Roger Bennett Continues to Improve

Debbie Bennett reports: We have just completed a week with Roger out of the hospital again, and so far things are going alright. That first night he was home was pretty challenging in that neither one of us had the strength to get him up off of the sofa, but we finally managed and from that point on, he is gaining strength each day. This week, he began physical therapy, and that is helping. His muscles have been seriously weakened by the steroid regimen he has been on to treat the Graft vs. Host disease. It’s not unexpected, but it is a new side effect to deal with.”

One Month After Being Beaten, SG DJ, Pastor Ralph Davis Is In Good Spirits

One Month After Being Beaten, Pastor Ralph Davis Is In Good Spirits

He usually ministers to others, but one pastor’s still on the mend himself.

You must remember about a month ago, two men brutally beat pastor Ralph Davis while he was broadcasting southern gospel music at a Springfield radio station. But he said he still has love for the men who attacked him for no apparent reason.

“As their preacher I would go to their jail cell and preach to them about their eternal destiny and a home in heaven they could have,” said Davis.

Pastor Davis is in good spirits and expected to make a full recovery within five to seven months.

Tennessee Woman Offers Bible Fellowship

The leader of a new Thursday morning women’s outreach of the Victory Christian Center in Murfreesboro considers the new program as a part of God’s calling for her. Gina Marie Robatin, a Pennsylvania native, gives a similar explanation of how she and her family moved to Tennessee last January.

“God told me I was supposed to move to Tennessee, supposed to go full-time in a singing ministry with my family and to speak to women’s groups,” the 35-year-old mother of two said. “It is totally a God thing.”

The new ministry at Victory Christian Center on Middle Tennessee Boulevard will include praise and worship.

“It won’t just be Bible study. It will be Bible fellowship,” said Robatin. “It will be about everyday struggles that women go through. Women (who) are overwhelmed by children, marriage or a job can come in and get refreshed for the week.”

She feels God used an illness to get her attention. Robatin was afflicted by a mini-stroke and seizures in 2004.

“For nine months I couldn’t walk, move, speak or feed myself,” she said.

Before the medical problems, she was a medical massage therapist. Her husband was in construction work and the two sang Southern gospel music part time with their two boys.

Greater Vision Meets Fox News

Yes, it was Greater Vision everyone saw recently on Fox News.  According to Gerald, “On Thursday morning, December 7, I received several text messages and phone calls asking “is that you I’m seeing on Fox News?”. Yes, it was us. We were in New York City that week decided to walk over to the Fox News Studios to see if we could watch the broadcast. It was SO cold there were only three of four other people there, so we were right outside the window during the broadcast of “Fox & Friends”. We were caught by the cameras several times during the broadcast, and our cell phones started ringing! lol

After the program, Steve Ducey, “The Weather Guy”, came outside to meet the “frozen chosen” who had stood outside in the cold to watch the program. He was a very nice guy, and after a few minutes of conversation, we found out that he is a Christian and actively involved in his local church every week.”

Holiday music causes controversy in Jewett City

Holiday music is everywhere this time of year - on the radio, television, and filling busy stores.  But in the Jewett City borough of Griswold, holiday music fills the air outside a local church, and for some people that’s a problem.

Up until this holiday season there has never been a complaint about this hourly music which goes from 8 AM to 8 PM, but now it is causing concern. For more than a decade, bells and music have played from this Jewett City bell tower on the hour.

“If the bells happen to toll I have to roll the windows up in my car and then turn the music up as loud as it will go to not hear them.  I’m an atheist,” said Bill Russell of Norwich.

But is it really the volume or the type of music?  Bill said, “I don’t want to hear Christian music.”

Danny Jones Is Politically Incorrect

According to Danny Jones, he is politically incorrect and intends to stay that way.  “I’m not going to get into a long-winded talk about the politically incorrect epidemic that’s overtaken our country. But I will say this: Christmas IS Christmas. I don’t buy HOLIDAY trees, I don’t buy HOLIDAY cards, I don’t play HOLIDAY carols. This season does not recognize the birth of someone named HOLIDAY.

After looking at not less than 15 calendars during the past couple of days, I’ve yet to see a single one that has December 25 listed as “HOLIDAY.” Everyone of them has that day listed as “Christmas.” I can’t help but wonder if that’ll change soon.”
